LOUISVILLE, Ky. (Dec. 1, 2017) â Frost Brown Todd has announced that John R. Crockett IIIÂ will be general counsel, chief compliance officer and corporate secretary of Louisville Gas and Electric and Kentucky Utilities Company.
The utilities announced today that Crockett, who has been FBTâs chairman for the past nine years, will join the company in early January. Dorothy OâBrien, LG&E and KUâs interim general counsel, will work with Crockett through a transition period prior to her retirement in February 2018, the company said.
Pursuant to its operating agreement, FBT will choose Crockettâs successor via a nominating committee and voting process among its members.
âIt has been a privilege to work with John over the years and we congratulate him and wish him much success in his future role. It is difficult to lose an outstanding leader, great partner and good friend; however, this is a wonderful opportunity for him to join a great organization and we know he will serve LG&E well,â said FBT Chairman Emeritus Ed Glasscock. âWe also recognize the outstanding work Dot OâBrien has done in her long tenure at LG&E, including her role as Interim General Counsel. We are pleased that she will work with John through this transition and we wish her all the best in her retirement.â
Geoff White, member-in-charge of FBTâs Louisville office said, âJohn has done a tremendous job leading the firm for the past nine years. He has been a team builder from the start and that approach further accelerated FBTâs growth into a super-regional firm. John recognized that the strength of Frost Brown Todd and our ability to best serve our clients come from the collective talents of a diverse team across the entire footprint of the firm. We are confident that the collaborative culture John has fostered positions us for continued growth and long-term success.â
Crockett joined Brown Todd & Heyburn in 1990. The firm merged with Frost & Jacobs in 2000 to become Frost Brown Todd LLC. Crockett became the firmâs chairman in 2009, succeeding Glasscock. During Crockettâs tenure as chairman, the firm expanded to Indianapolis, Dallas and Pittsburgh, in addition to continuing to grow in its existing markets. With 146 lawyers, FBTâs Louisville office is the largest law office in Kentucky.
âFor nearly 30 years, Frost Brown Todd has been my home,â Crockett said. âIt has been a personal and professional privilege to help lead the firm in a period of such significant growth, and I canât imagine a more gratifying experience in private practice. I am honored to step from one outstanding organization to another, and look forward to this new opportunity with such a great company and corporate citizen.â
Crockettâs responsibilities at the firm include driving the firm’s growth and strategic planning, merger opportunities, ancillary business ventures, and new business opportunities. Crockett also serves on the firmâs executive and compensation committees, as will his successor.
