LEXINGTON, Ky. (Aug. 5, 2013) — The Alltech National Horse Show will return to the Alltech Arena at the Kentucky Horse Park Oct. 29 through Nov. 3, 2013, with the nation’s top-performing equestrians and a week of associated activities around the Bluegrass region. Alltech, the Nicholasville-based international animal health company, announced Monday that The National will again take place at the park just outside Lexington, where it moved in 2011 after decades at Madison Square Garden in New York City.
In addition to a world-class equestrian sport, the show brings families together with activities including a free Halloween trick-or-treat, The Biggest Loser 5K/15K/1 Mile RunWalk, a Barn Night for horse crazy youth, and a showcase of Kentucky’s authentic cuisine and culture.
Former Olympians and world champions competing on the North American show circuit will enter the ring for a variety of events and classes, including Saddlebreds in competition, the $250,000 Alltech Grand Prix, the $50,000 LIFEFORCE Elite Puissance and the ASPCA Alfred B. Maclay Finals for youth competitors.
In its first year in Kentucky, the Alltech National Horse Show was named the No. 1 horse show in America by the North American Riders Group, and it returned in 2012 with an even higher score from this group. For two consecutive years, the show has been named Horse Show of the Year by the National Show Hunter Hall of Fame.
