
FRANKFORT, Ky. — The Kentucky Association for Economic Development (KAED) recently received a $60,000 Kentucky Power Economic Growth Grant (K-PEGG) to support economic development education, sites and buildings, product development, marketing and promotions and professional consulting initiative within KAED.
“Kentucky Power has a long history of collaboration and support for local, regional and state economic development organizations including KAED,” said Terri Bradshaw, KAED President/CEO. “The generosity of ours sponsors allows KAED to offer so many opportunities to our members and their communities that we would not otherwise be able to provide. This funding will be used to support various educational opportunities, the KPDI program and a mix of marketing initiatives that will promote Kentucky as an excellent place to do business.”
The Kentucky Power Economic Growth Grants (K-PEGG) supports and delivers significant new investment in economic development programs, especially in eastern Kentucky. The program funds can be used to:
- provide educational opportunities for local economic development practitioners in an effort to raise the bar of performance for communities and partners that are focused on economic development.
- for industrial/ business park feasibility studies, master plans for industrial shell buildings or business parks, environmental studies or cultural studies for site development, other studies specifically related to product development, or infrastructure improvements for a site.
- to develop collaborative marketing and promotional strategies, including targeting studies, marketing materials/brochures, website development, technology and software upgrades for marketing, attracting new industry programs, conducting
- special studies and research projects, and programs to encourage regional marketing collaboration.
- to hire economic development and site consultants to complete special projects related to their efforts, including product improvement analysis, product identification analysis, product marketing programs, or target industry analysis.
It’s available to businesses operating in their 20-county service area that includes Boyd, Breathitt, Carter, Clay, Elliott, Floyd, Greenup, Johnson, Knott, Lawrence, Leslie, Letcher, Lewis, Magoffin, Martin, Morgan, Owsley, Perry, Pike and Rowan counties.
