MIDWAY, Ky. — Three new trustees have recently joined the Midway University Board of Trustees. Each board member brings unique business backgrounds and personal experiences with them that will enhance the university’s board.
“As Midway University continues to grow, we are pleased to add these new members to our board,” said Donna Moore Campbell ‘62, Midway University Board Chair. “There are many different areas of strengths we look to have on our board, from industry expertise, compliance, financial knowledge, legal, and regulatory understanding. These three new members bring a wealth of experience and knowledge that will be an asset to the university and its operations as we head into our next strategic planning phase.”
Peter Berglar, Paris, Ky.
Peter Berglar grew up near Frankfurt and later Cologne, and after his military service, he began a career in the Thoroughbred industry. His first experiences came on a farm near Cologne and serving an apprenticeship in breeding and raising horses.
He gained further practical experiences around the world while working on farms and/or sales in France, Germany, England, USA, and Australia. During that period, he was entrusted with various management positions.
With the purchase of Stonereath Stud in Paris, Kentucky, Mr. Berglar established himself as an owner and breeder in the local thoroughbred industry. He successfully owned and managed the farm until its sale in August 2023. During that time Mr. Berglar enjoyed success through a number of Stakes and Graded Stakes performers born and/or raised at Stonereath, with Sunset Glow and Taiba being the most accomplished graduates.
Sheila Devine Griffeth, ’95, ‘18, Nicholasville, Ky.
Sheila Devine Griffeth, MSN, RN is the vice president of surgical services, cardiovascular, infusion, and neurosciences for the Kentucky Market for Saint Joseph Health. In addition, Mrs. Griffeth is administrator of CHI Saint Joseph Health Outpatient Surgery Center. She has been a part of the Saint Joseph Ministry on and off for 30 years.
Griffeth received her undergraduate and graduate education from Midway University with a focus on nursing and nursing leadership. She served as a captain and chief nurse in the U.S. Army for 13 years. Griffeth is a powerful force in the workplace and uses her positive attitude and tireless energy to encourage others to work hard and succeed. Griffeth serves on the Surgery on Sunday board. She is on the executive leadership team for the American Heart Association and is active in the Kentucky Chapter of the Association of Perioperative Registered Nurses.
She and her husband, Neil Griffeth, reside in Nicholasville, Ky., and own Moe’s Southwest Grill in Lexington. They have three daughters: Meradith (25), active duty in the U.S. Army-Hawaii; Caroline (19), a sophomore at the University of Kentucky studying neuroscience, political science, and Spanish; and Lucy (17), a senior at Lafayette High School.
Adrian Mendiondo, Lexington, Ky.
Adrian Mendiondo grew up in Lexington and has practiced law in Lexington since 2005. After graduating from Henry Clay High School in 1996, Mendiondo pursued his undergraduate degree from Emory University, in Atlanta, Georgia, and then moved to Los Angeles, Calif., to attend Pepperdine University School of Law. Mendiondo graduated cum laude from Pepperdine in 2003, and in 2005 returned to Lexington.
Mendiondo began his Kentucky practice as an associate with Stoll Keenon Ogden; then joined Kinkead & Stilz in 2007. In both firms he focused primarily on business, employment, and civil rights litigation, representing small and large businesses and governmental agencies across Kentucky. Mendiondo was elected as an equity partner at Kinkead & Stilz in 2010 and continued to work there until he joined Morgan & Morgan in 2015. At Morgan & Morgan, Mendiondo has represented his clients in complex civil rights and trucking claims in multiple federal venues throughout the Southeast United States. His practice presently focuses on trucking cases in Kentucky and Indiana.
Mendiondo has served on the Board of Directors of the Fayette County Bar Association and the Lexington Public Library Foundation, and he is presently the vice chairman of the Kentucky Registry for Election Finance.
Mendiondo is married to Whitney Howard Mendiondo and has two children, Lillian and Anna Claire.
