Award winning Donate Life KY High School Challenge returns

LOUISVILLE, Ky. — After a successful return last year following a three-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic, Donate Life KY is once again taking registrations for this year’s 2023 High School Challenge. This year’s challenge’s theme is ā€œIn Our Life-Saving Era.ā€

The Donate Life KY High School Challenge is a several-week competition to see which Kentucky club or group can complete the most activities to raise awareness of the importance of organ, tissue and eye donation.

Any club or group of students with a teacher/adult sponsor is welcome to sign up for this community service projectĀ here. Registration is now open, and submissions will not be taken after September 20, 2023. The challenge begins October 1 and ends October 31, 2023.

The winning schools will be determined by reaching a target level in a point-based system. Those points are based on outreach activities and which school has the most new signups on registerme.org. Activities include registry drives, making commercials, art, school-wide assemblies and social media posts.

The first-place prize of $1,000 will go to the club or group that completes the greatest awareness efforts. Additional winnings of $500 have been established for both groups or clubs that garner the most new names on the KY Organ Donor Registry and have a standout social media effort.

ā€œEras come and go, but the impact of organ donation is timeless,ā€ says Lauren Salyer, Community Educator at Donate Life Kentucky. ā€œAmidst the nostalgic vibes and ever-evolving trends, a retro-inspired lesson in compassion never goes out of style.ā€

This competition will have no losers as every student group will give hope to more than 100,000 children and adults waiting on a lifesaving organ transplant.Ā
