As part of an effort to better serve international students and increase cultural/global awareness, Northern Kentucky University has created a full-time intensive English program (IEP) to help international students develop skills and confidence in using English. “Increased globalization requires the university to become more international in scope as we prepare our students for the world in which they will live and work,” said NKU Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Gail Wells. Wells added that the involvement of international students in the community is consistent with the region’s Vision 2015 strategy to “promote the development of an international community that attracts, retains and celebrates people from diverse backgrounds, races, cultures, genders, ages, incomes and family structures.”
