LEXINGTON, Ky. ā Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass will host a fundraising gala, Big in the Bluegrass, on Friday, October 21, 2022, at Limestone Hall. The night will feature live music by Coach Matthew Mitchell Band, silent and live auctions, dining experiences and an awards program. BBBS of the Bluegrass will recognize their Big of the Year and feature other awards that honor their volunteers, donors and community partners.
āBig in the Bluegrass will be a new experience for Central Kentucky to learn more about the valuable work that Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Bluegrass does to support at-risk kids in our local communities,ā said Meredith Downey, Director of Major Gifts. āThis will be a fun evening with incredible auction items, great music, and most importantly, celebrating the amazing people who support our program.ā
The money raised at Big in the Bluegrass will directly impact the nearly 130 kids who are currently on the waitlist to be matched with an adult volunteer (āBigā). Over 41 schools in Lexington have one of BBBS of the Bluegrass’s children (āLittleāsā) and 20% of the children in the program report an incarcerated parent.

As the nationās largest donor and volunteer supported mentoring network, Big Brothers Big Sisters makes meaningful, monitored matches between adult volunteers (āBigsā) and children (āLittlesā), ages 6 through 18, in communities across the country. We develop positive relationships that have a direct and lasting effect on the lives of young people.
