Restaurateur Jeff Ruby has closed his Tropicana restaurant in Newport in the wake of a trademark infringement lawsuit filed by Tropicana Entertainment, a gaming company headquartered in nearby Crestview Hills. Rather than fight what Ruby estimated to be an expensive battle or change the name of the restaurant – which would entail reworking the entire concept – he has elected to close the location and focus on a new nightclub and restaurant, Bootsy-Ruby’s, that will be located across the Ohio River in downtown Cincinnati. Bootsy-Ruby’s is scheduled to open in November.
