Plans to build an $85 million corn-to-ethanol plant have been sidelined. Kentucky Five Star Energy had put an option on a 95-acre parcel of land in the Four Star Industrial Plant, but has since encountered a number of problems, including the rising cost of corn and public opposition to utilizing food crops for fuel. According to local reports, Ineos Group, a British chemical company, is interested in acquiring the site that Kentucky Five Star had optioned. Ineos is currently developing technology to convert landfill waste into fuel.
