LEXINGTON, Ky. (Nov. 14, 2017) ā The Lexington-Bluegrass Association of RealtorsĀ® (LBAR)Ā is awarded a $15,000 grant from the National Association of RealtorsĀ®ā Housing Opportunity Program to support activities that create and expand affordable housing opportunities. The Lexington-Bluegrass Association of Realtors donates $1,500 to the project. With the Rent & Deposit Assistant (RDA) Project, the grant will be used toĀ pay deposit and first monthās rent for households experiencing homelessness who haveĀ documented income to pay ongoing rent.
āRealtors® build communities and work hard to make housing affordable to all who are willing and able to become homeowners,ā said LBAR 2017 President Ty Brown. āThis grant will help raise awareness about the need for more housing opportunities in our community, as well as identify and promote solutions that address affordability. Through the Housing Opportunity Grants homeownership can become an attainable dream for many hard working American families across the country.ā
NARās Housing Opportunity Grants were established in 2006. Individual grants are awarded ten times per year. Since the programās inception, over 400 grants totaling more than $1.5 million have been awarded
The grants support a wide range of housing opportunity activities, including housing symposia; home buyer education or housing fairs; counseling and financial literacy efforts; down payment or closing cost financial assistance programs; housing needs studies; and Realtor® affordability housing education.
