Bourbon chocolatier Art-Eatables opens shop in downtown Louisville

Will be second location for the world’s first bourbon-certified chocolatier

LOUISVILLE (May, 12 2017) – Mayor Greg Fischer today welcomed Art Eatables, and its delicious Small-batch Bourbon Truffles™, as the chocolatier opened its newest location in the downtown Bourbon District. The chocolatier is located at 819 West Main Street, just east of the Frazier History Museum.

“In Louisville, bourbon is more than just our signature drink; it’s a critical part of our history and culture,” said the Mayor. “Art Eatables is known for tying together bourbon and food — and it’s easy for visitors to take their chocolates home with them. That’s bourbonism in action.”

Art Eatables is the world’s first bourbon-certified chocolatier and an official sponsor of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail ® tour.

“We are incredibly excited to be part of Main Street. With the excitement generated by the city’s Bourbon District and the ongoing energy that top-class museums like the Frazier bring to this area, we think this is the perfect place for us,” said Art Eatables owner, Kelly Ramsey. “We think we bring something unique to this area that will fit well with our new neighbors and show our ongoing commitment to promoting our commonwealth’s bourbon culture.”

The new location on Main Street will be a second store in downtown Louisville for Art Eatables. The original storefront on 4^th street in the theater district will continue to meet the growing demand for bourbon truffles in Louisville and around the world.  Art Eatables is the Official Chocolatier of the Kentucky Bourbon Affair™ and will be serving truffles at the Frazier’s June 6^th Old Forester Speakeasy and other Bourbon Affair events.

Named Best Candy Shop in Kentucky in Food Network’s October 2015 issue, Art Eatables is owned by Kelly and Forest Ramsey.  From flavor-infused caramels, Chimères™, to hand-painted, hand-poured solid chocolates and confections to its classic Small-batch Bourbon Truffles, Art Eatables will now serve both young and old at both Louisville locations.

The storefront on Main will be open from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Sundays, with occasional special-event hours. In celebration of its grand opening, for example, Art Eatables on Main will be open today until 8 p.m.

“We are thrilled to have Art Eatables moving in, and we look forward to surrounding them with other partners who can bring both locals and tourists to the city’s newly designated Bourbon District,” said Frazier President Penny Peavler. “The Frazier’s new Kentucky Proud designation and focus on the culture of Kentucky makes Art Eatables a welcome addition to the Frazier.”

Working with the Kentucky Distillers Association ® (KDA), the Frazier is developing the concept of a new Bourbon-oriented experience that will serve as the official starting point of the Kentucky Bourbon Trail ® adventure and the Kentucky Bourbon Trail Craft Tour®, both of which are owned and trademarked by the KDA.

Initial plans call for Frazier exhibits and visitor experiences that impart the history and cultural development of Kentucky’s signature spirit. Interactive learning programs and Bourbon-themed events have been an important part of the Frazier’s product for several years.

The next two events on the Frazier’s bourbon-themed schedule include The Masters Series on May 16^th featuring Four Roses Bourbon, Peerless Distilling and Falls City Beer, and The Old Forester Speakeasy on June 6^th, kicking off the Bourbon Affair™ on Louisville’s Main Street.
