LOUISVILLE — The Kroger Co., Louisville Division held a grand opening for a new $32 million Ballardsville Road Kroger on Thursday, September 12.
The 66,000-s.f. facility includes Starbucks, an adjacent fuel center, pharmacy, and drive-thru Wine & Spirits Shoppe. The store has a wide variety of popular features including a Murray’s Cheese Shop, expanded deli offerings, sushi, and grocery pickup.
“Kroger is honored to extend our service to more stores in the Kentuckiana area which reflects our commitment to the community,” said The Kroger Co., Louisville Division Corporate Affairs Manager Jessica Sharp. “We recognize Kroger’s unique role in the communities we serve. As an employer, grocery retailer, healthcare provider and more, we have a responsibility to create positive change and deliver on Our Purpose to Feed the Human Spirit.”
“We are so excited to share this new store with the community during our Grand Opening Celebration,” said Ballardsville Store Manager Ben Fitzgerald. “We look forward to revealing all the hard work we’ve been doing since breaking ground and offering our customers a brand-new shopping experience for years to come.”
Kroger has served the Louisville community for 95 years and now counts 27 stores across Jefferson County. Kroger has invested further in the Louisville market with the chain’s distribution center, division office and Kroger Delivery warehouse which serves every Louisville zip code.
Louisville is also home to Kroger’s Zero Hunger Mobile Market, an innovative single-aisle grocery store in partnership with Kentuckiana’s Dare to Care Foodbank, providing underserved neighborhoods with fresh ingredients and service five days a week at 15 locations.
Louisville Metro’s Deputy Mayor David James attended the opening along with representatives from Dare to Care, North Oldham County High School Band and more.
Kroger Louisville Division operates 115 retail food stores in Kentucky, Southern Indiana, and Southern Illinois with 19,000 division associates.
