LEXINGTON, Ky. â University of Kentucky Art Museum holds its annual fundraising soiree, “An Inspired Evening,” from 7-10 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 24, at the Singletary Center for the Arts. This year it will celebrate Lexingtonâs Wendy and Dan Rowland.
Each year, the museum recognizes individuals who make a significant contribution to the art and culture of the Commonwealth.
âWe are thrilled to gather for a memorable fund-and-friend-raiser honoring Wendy and Dan Rowland for their many years of engagement with art and culture on our university campus and in the Lexington community,â said UK Art Museum Director Stuart Horodner said.
All proceeds from the event support the museumâs year-round programs and free admission policy.
Together and separately, the Rowlands are passionate advocates for scholarship and creativity. Wendy is an established artist and writer who serves on the museumâs advisory group and has played an active role in the UK Art Museumâs membership program. Dan is a professor emeritus in UKâs Department of History, served as director of the Gaines Center for the Humanities and director of Civic Lex, and has been instrumental in ongoing preservation efforts for the Pope Villa.
At this yearâs event, guests can expect to enjoy abundant hors dâoeuvres by Selma’s Catering and Events, specialty cocktails by Makerâs Mark, lively music and a performance by UK Choirsâ Paws and Listen, on the stage in the Singletary Centerâs Concert Hall and in the lobby. Plus, a silent auction of unique arts experiences.
Tickets: $125 each, available online at finearts.uky.edu/art-museum/events/inspired-evening. Cocktail attire. Free reserved parking or valet for an additional fee.
