Roller Derby of Central Kentucky (ROCK) is Lexington, Kentucky’s only amateur flat-track roller derby team. We are a non-profit organization that fosters athletic growth and integrity in our members and gives back to the community by partnering with local non-profit organizations. We are a member league of the Women’s Flat Track Derby Association (WFTDA) and are inclusive of WFTDA’s gender policy.
ROCK is in its 13th competitive season, and we have already played 5 away games – winning the Smalltown Smackdown tournament in Muncie, Indiana (3 games) and sanctioned games against Ohio Valley Roller Derby (Wheeling, West Virginia) and Hard Knox Roller Derby (Knoxville, Tennessee). Thanks to a successful away season, ROCK has risen dramatically in the rankings, and we are currently ranked 23rd out of 126 leagues in WFTDA’s North America Northeast region. While we have had an undefeated season, our upcoming home bout is likely to be our most difficult to date, and it will be well worth coming to see if we can continue our winning streak!
We are currently recruiting skaters (ages 18 and older), referees, and non-skating officials, and we will be holding a clinic for new skaters on October 1 from 12 pm to 3 pm. No skating experience is necessary; you can find more information on our website or Facebook page. ROCK practices twice weekly in Lexington and travels regularly during our competitive season for away bouts. Roller derby is a great way to meet people and become involved in the Lexington and Central Kentucky communities.
