The Great Kentucky Proud Cook Out Tent returns to the Kentucky State Fair

FRANKFORT, Ky. — Kentucky Proud, the official agricultural marketing brand of Kentucky, is again sponsoring the Great Kentucky Proud Cookout Tent at the Kentucky State Fair, scheduled for Aug. 17-27. 

“The Kentucky State Fair is the quintessential annual celebration of agriculture across the commonwealth,” Commissioner of Agriculture Dr. Ryan Quarles said. “I’m excited to announce that patrons can enjoy a delicious meal made with locally grown and raised ingredients. The Great Kentucky Proud Cook Out Tent was so well received in 2022 that we knew we had to bring it back this year.” 

The Great Kentucky Proud Cook Out Tent in The Backyard just outside the South Wing in Parking Lot A features locally sourced and freshly prepared menu items from several Kentucky commodity groups. From fried catfish to rib-eye sandwiches, grilled sweet corn to fried chicken, and grilled cheese to pork burgers, the tent offers a wide array of delicious dishes made with ingredients grown and raised on Kentucky farms. 

Although it’s available and open each day of the State Fair, The Great Kentucky Proud Cook Out Tent is also the site of the Commodity Breakfast that kicks off the beginning of the State Fair each year. During the Commodity Breakfast, constitutional officers come together to serve a delicious Kentucky breakfast for those in attendance.
