ACS State Healthcare LLC has been selected as the vendor to develop Kentucky’s Health Information Exchange (HIE). The two-year, $4.5 million contract calls for the development and maintenance of an electronic health information system that will allow the exchange to connect with and support health care providers by making available e-prescribing, patient demographics, laboratory and image reports, medication histories, allergy histories, past medical diagnoses, dates of services, hospital stays and immunizations, among other information. The contract is funded through a Medicaid Transformation Grant from the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, which will support the initial phases of development of HIE and its pilot implementation. The state will seek American Recovery and Reinvestment Act funding for expansion of the HIE statewide.
