New scholarship at Gateway provided by Home Instead Senior Care

FORT MITCHELL, Ky. — Home Instead Senior Care created a new scholarship for Gateway Community & Technical College health professions students.

The scholarship will support students who are pursuing careers in healthcare and are enrolled in Gateway’s nursing, Medicaid nurse aid, or health science technology programs.

The scholarship will support students’ tuition costs, books, emergency fund needs (to assist with unforeseen expenses negatively affecting students’ ability to complete their program), or fees needed to take licensure exams (State Registered Nurses Aide, National Council Licensure Examination – Registered Nurse test fees, etc.).

Home Instead Senior Care currently employs five Gateway students.

“Home Instead Senior Care understands and appreciates the hard work and dedication that it takes for the students at Gateway to do their best in the classroom while also working, and in some cases, raising a family,” said Eric Schuermann, owner of Home Instead Senior Care. “We believe this scholarship will properly recognize and support an individual who excels in these aspects of their lives.”

Home Instead Senior Care, located in Fort Mitchell, Ky., provides a range of in-home services that enable seniors to stay home instead. Services include personal care, dementia care, meal preparation, medication reminders, and more. They have helped seniors in Boone, Campbell, and Kenton Counties since 1999 to live at home safely and with dignity.

Home Instead caregivers all live in the Northern Kentucky community, and live their motto, “To us, it’s personal,” every day. All Home Instead Caregivers go through the Home Instead Alzheimer’s Care training program, which is endorsed by the Alzheimer’s Association and follows David Troxel’s “Best Friend’s Approach” to Alzheimer’s care.
