LOUISVILLE, Ky.Ā āĀ Jordan Harris, the founder of Pegasus Institute, will be stepping down as executive director on Nov. 1, 2019. Pegasus Institute was founded in 2016 and has achieved dozens of policy changes as a direct result of its research in that time.
āI couldnāt be more proud of the things we have accomplished as an organization,” Harris said. “What started as two guys working in an apartment in Downtown Louisville has grown into the most impactful policy organization in the state of Kentucky. We have a brand that is well known from Paducah to Pikeville and respected among policymakers at the local, state and federal level. We are in an excellent position, and sometimes it is best to turn the reigns over at a time that a new leader can push forward without skipping a beat.ā
Harris is among the most recognizable conservative leaders in the Commonwealth of Kentucky with a regular column that appears in the Courier-Journal and op-eds that have appeared in every major Kentucky publication including The Lane Report. He frequently appears on radio talk shows around the state, including several stints as a guest host of Kruser and Krew on Lexingtonās Newstalk 590 AM. He has appeared often on KETās debate program Kentucky Tonight and has provided on-screen expert commentary for several television news stories.
Harris is one of the most widely cited policy researchers in Kentucky with dozens of reports and white papers, many of which have led to significant legislation. He developed the framework of the 2018 Tax Reform Package that provided the most comprehensive overhaul of the stateās tax code in eight decades. His expertise, particularly on economic and education matters, has made him a trusted advisor for elected officials on the state level and members of Kentuckyās congressional delegation.
āI will continue to be involved with Pegasus Institute as someone else takes over the helm,ā Harris noted. āI am excited about the organizationās next chapter.ā
