
LEXINGTON, Ky. ā The Avett BrothersĀ announced today that they will play Rupp Arena Nov. 2, 2019. First in line pre-sale tickets will be available starting on Thursday, July 18 at 10 a.m. and will go on sale to the general public on Friday, July 19 at 10 a.m.
The show marks the band’s first show in Lexington since performing at Rupp Arena on Oct. 1, 2015, with opening support from Jason Isbell & The 400 Unit.
The Avett Brothers new album Closer Than Together will be released Oct. 4, 2019. The song “High Steppin'” off the new album was released on June 13Ā along with the video below.
Last year, The Avett Brothers released their critically acclaimed documentary May It Last: A Portrait of The Avett Brothers, which was co-directed by Judd Apatow (Doc & Darryl, Knocked Up, The 40-Year-Old Virgin)Ā and Michael Bonfiglio (My Next Guest Needs No Introduction with David Letterman,Ā Jerry Before Seinfeld). The film followed the band as they wrote their Grammy-nominated album True Sadness. The film was released theatrically and debuted on HBO on Jan. 29.
The Avett Brothersā album,Ā True Sadness, achieved the groupāsĀ highest career debut to dateĀ and dominated multiple charts, arriving atĀ #1 on Billboardās Top Albums Chart,Ā #1 Top Rock Albums Chart, #1 on the Digital Albums ChartĀ andĀ #3 onĀ Billboardās Top 200 Chart. The album was also nominated for Best Americana Album and Best American Roots Performance for āAināt No Manā by the 2017 Grammy Awards.
The band will perform in Louisville this weekend during the final day of Forecastle Festival on Sunday, July 14.
