BOWLING GREEN, Ky. — The Kentucky Association for Economic Development (KAED) held its annual Kentucky Economic Forum Nov. 7-9. Ron Bunch, president and CEO of the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, was named board chair for 2019.
Bunch will begin his term Jan. 1, 2019.
KAED consists of more than 600 members representing 355 unique companies. Its members represent diverse professionals throughout the commonwealth who share a common goal in building and developing Kentucky. KAED is managed by a full-time professional staff, and governed by a 13-member board of directors. The organization works alongside the Cabinet for Economic Development and other state organizations in support of economic development.
The Kentucky Economic Forum is a three-day, multifaceted event highlighting the over 300 members of KAED, and is centered around educational and professional development opportunities. Bunch was given the opportunity to speak and provide his vision and strategies for KAED in the year ahead.
“I am honored to have been elected as 2019 board chair for KAED,” Bunch said. “My main mission for the upcoming year is to further the #TeamKentucky collaboration by uniting the economic development professionals across the commonwealth toward a common statewide economic development brand and marketing strategy.”
Bunch, a Certified Economic Developer (CEcD), was a 1990 graduate of the U.S. Military Academy at West Point, and holds a bachelor of science degree in economics with a focus in general engineering. He has over 24 years of professional economic development experience having led successful local and regional economic development efforts in four states.
Since Bunch joined the Bowling Green Area Chamber of Commerce, the community has announced over $2.57 billion in capital investment and more than 5,700 new jobs. Bowling Green has been ranked in the top six nationally by Site Selection Magazine for the “Top 10 Metros for New/Expanded Facilities” for populations under 200,000 for five consecutive years.
